The state government has just released the official holiday calendar for the upcoming year, 2024. In total, there will be 22 gazetted holidays throughout the year, including an additional gazetted holiday exclusively for women employees. Additionally, there will be 16 holidays as per the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881, along with 12 optional holidays. The General Administration Department has issued a notification regarding this on Friday. Let's take a look at some of the key holidays in 2024. Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti will be celebrated on April 14th, Maharana Pratap Jayanti on June 9th, Karva Chauth on October 20th, and Bhaiya Dooj on November 3rd. However, please note that since Makar Sankranti falls on January 14th and Easter Sunday on March 31st, which are both Sundays, employees will not receive an additional holiday for these occasions. Similarly, women employees will not have an extra holiday for Karva Chauth and Bhaiya Dooj, as they fall on a Sunday. However, they will be granted leave on August 19th for Rakshabandhan. In November, there will be several holidays to look forward to. All government offices and banks in Himachal Pradesh will be closed on November 11th (second Saturday), November 12th, November 19th, and November 26th (Sundays). Banks will also remain closed on November 25th due to the fourth Saturday, while other government offices will be open. On November 12th, female employees will have a holiday for Diwali, and on November 15th, for Bhai Dooj. However, male employees will be required to work as usual on these days. Additionally, there will be a holiday on November 27th to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sikh religious guru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
